Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w środkowej i południowej części Europy, notowany ponadto z zachodniej Ukrainy i Algierii. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk tylko w południowej części kraju. Omyłkowo została podana nazwa miejscowości Rzetkowice koło Zawiercia (Cmoluch 1989) — winno być Rzędkowice. Żyje na różnych gatunkach z rodzaju rezeda — Reseda L., zwłaszcza na rezedzie żółtawej — R. luteola L. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się w maju-czerwcu i żeruj ą na kwiatach i liściach. Larwy odbywają rozwój w torebkach nasiennych, gdzie odżywiają się nasionami. Przeobrażenie odbywa się w powierzchniowej warstwie gleby.
